The government of Jammu and Kashmir introduced a new scheme called Transport Subsidy Scheme to replace old buses or minibuses or matador to new one. Under this scheme state government provides subsidy amount to the owner of the vehicles for scraping their old vehicles. This subsidy amount should be Rs 5 lakh or 16% of the vehicle cost whichever is less.

Who are eligible?

Conditions you should follow

  • If any vehicle owner selected under the transport subsidy scheme then he or she will have to purchase a new vehicle within 3 month of period.
  • Applicant can’t get permission to transfer subsidized vehicle to other name (selling) for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Old vehicle must not have any kind of surcharge or penalties like token taxes, permit fees, passenger tax and a chassis cut piece.
  • Applicant should provide regular compliance reports to the regional transport office (RTO).
  • Applicant must condemn and scrap their old vehicle after the deregistration process complete.
  • As we informed you earlier that, applicant must have a valid scraping certificate from the authorised scrapper.

How to apply for J&K Transport Subsidy Scheme?

You can check the application process by downloading the government order no. 65 – JK(TR) of 2022 from the official website of JK Transport. Or you can follow these simple steps listed below.

Step 1: Ensure to verify eligibility conditions.

Step 2: If you found eligible then deregister your vehicle from the valid scrap dealer and got deregistration certificate from the transport office.

Step 3: Take a simple A4 size paper and listed all the details of the vehicle along with necessary documents like deregistration certificate and all.

Step 4: Submit the application to your nearest RTO office.

Step 5: Once approved your application, you have to go with further process for a loan from the bank if required.

Step 6: After loan clears successfully, you have to purchase a new eco friendly vehicle within 3 months.
